An MTA conductor is hospitalized after being struck by an unknown man at the Prospect Avenue Station early Saturday, police say.
They say the attack happened around 6:30 a.m. when a man in his 30s kicked in a female conductor's cabin window and punched her in the face before taking off.
Earlier this year, the MTA union called for strict punishments for attacks on transit workers after seeing an increase in violence over the last two years.
The MTA released a statement saying: "Senseless attacks on transit workers are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. We will fully cooperate with an NYPD investigation, and urge prosecutors to demand maximum available penalties for perpetrators."
The conductor was taken to New York Presbyterian Methodist Brooklyn Hospital and is in stable condition.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
