A new video released by the NYPD shows the moment a driver hit a child while crossing the street in Williamsbridge.

Police say a man was behind the wheel of a blue Honda CR-V with New York license plate HFZ 3545. The car had a silver metal grille grate on at the time of the incident.

According to the video, the driver was driving down Gun Hill Road when he made a turn onto Paulding Avenue and hit a 5-year-old girl who was in the crosswalk attempting to cross the street with another person. The girl was taken to the hospital with a serious injury to her leg, according to police.

The indecent happened on Jan. 30 around 2:45 p.m.

"You cannot hit a child and run away, he is supposed to stop and look," said Vashti Mcpherson, who lives in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
