Police: Roosevelt woman fighting eviction blows up house, killing herself and 30 cats
Police say a Roosevelt woman fighting an eviction notice died after she blew up her home while she and her cats were inside.
Authorities say it happened Wednesday before noon on Cedar Court.
Police say when they served her an eviction notice, she refused to leave, barricaded herself inside and threatened to blow up the house.
The woman then turned on the gas and set her house on fire.
Neighbors say the woman owned around 30 cats.
Animal control officers say none of the animals inside survived.
Two families were sharing the home that was subdivided. Both sides were destroyed.
