Police are searching for a suspect who they say attacked a man early Tuesday morning at the 96th Street subway station on the Upper West Side.

Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the man they are looking for running out of the station. Authorities are hoping that someone will recognize him and come forward.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a 52-year-old man was standing on the platform waiting for his train. According to police, a man approached the victim and struck him on the neck with a sharp object, causing a cut on the right side of his neck. The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, last seen wearing a green shirt and red sweatpants.

They’re urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s identity to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
