A stabbing in a Longwood bodega Thursday left one man dead and another charged with murder.
Police say it all happened around 1 p.m. They say they responded to a 911 call of a man who had been assaulted inside the bodega.
Police say they found Frankie Williams with stab wounds to his stomach.
The 37-year-old man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say 26-year-old Ronny Torres is in custody and is being charged with murder.
Frankie Williams' wife told News 12 that he was an artist and performed regularly. His wife, Ephithany Thompson, says an employee at the store stabbed him for not paying for a beer.
Thompson says they've known the employees at the bodega for years. She says she thought they were nice people.
Friends of Williams say he was born in Honduras. They say he was loved by the Garifuna community in the Bronx, where he was raised.
Thompson told News 12 she was the first to receive the news and says she didn't believe it.
"As soon as I got to the hospital and seen it for myself that's when I felt devastated," said Thompson.
