Police are looking for a man who exchanged gunfire with officers after he was involved in an armed robbery Wednesday night in Crotona Park.
The Boost Mobile store near East 174th Street and Bryant Avenue where it all started is now back open. Police are reviewing cameras in the area to see if they can get an image out of the man who they say shot at officers.
Police say they received a call about an armed robbery in progress at the cellphone store before 6:30 p.m.
Officials say when officers got to the cellphone store, they came face-to-face with the perpetrator. They say officers followed him down East 174th Street, toward Hoe Avenue, when he took out a gun.
Police say the officers told the suspect to drop the gun and he looked like he was going to. However, they say the man opened fire, leading to a shootout between the suspect and the NYPD.
There was no word if anyone was shot. Authorities say two officers had to go to Jacobi Hospital to be treated for ringing in their ears.
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call police.
