Police have confirmed the initial incident began around 3:30 p.m., with the two suspects being accused of vandalizing a car in the area of West Clarkstown Road.
At this time, there is no motive as to why the car was vandalized.
The two suspects are a 16-year-old driver and a passenger, who is also a minor.
Clarkstown police say they responded to a report of criminal mischief in the area.
They say they received a description from the victim of a burgundy Acura SUV seen fleeing the area.
Patrol units later spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull over the car, resulting in the driver reversing into an occupied school bus and leaving the scene.
Clarkstown police say the suspect vehicle also struck a marked Clarkstown police patrol car and a uniformed officer. The officer, who was on foot, was trying to intercept the vehicle in front of the Shops at Nanuet. The officer did not sustain serious injuries.
Police say the suspect vehicle continued on North Middletown Road and on the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
Officers say the vehicle struck more police units and drove into oncoming traffic.
The car fled through multiple residential yards, causing minor damage and eventually got stuck and was unable to continue at Schassler Place in Stony Point, according to police.
Police say both suspects were located in Stony Point and taken into custody.
Police say the 16-year-old driver is now facing multiple charges, including criminal mischief, reckless driving and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
"I was on the road working, cutting hedges, and all of a sudden I hear this car going down the street at a high speed...and being that it's a dead end, I thought he was just going to stop...but no he went right through. He flew right over the rocks itself," said Stony Point resident Joe Roldon, who witnessed a portion of the car chase.
