Police: Truck driver, toll booth attendant seriously injured in crash at Barnegat Toll Plaza
Two people were seriously injured when a garbage truck crashed into a toll booth at the Barnegat Toll Plaza Friday morning.
New Jersey State Police say the crash happened around 6:15 a.m. at the toll plaza on the Garden State Parkway. They say a Chevrolet pickup truck was stopped at the toll booth when a Mack garbage truck struck the toll booth, sending debris crashing into the booth and the pickup truck.
Police say the driver of the garbage truck, a 44-year-old man from Toms River and the toll booth operator, a 43-year-old woman from Little Egg Harbor, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
The toll both lanes were closed to traffic following the crash. They reopened late Friday evening.
