Police say a woman was stabbed to death with a machete in the Bronx on Sunday.
Officials were called to 383 141st St. around 4 p.m., where they found 59-year-old Carmen Torres-Gonzalez lying in a hallway dead with multiple stab wounds from a machete.
They say her right hand was cut off, and she also suffered lacerations to her cheek, neck and shoulder.
A 25-year-old male neighbor was taken into police custody, but police did not confirm he was arrested in connection with the stabbing.
Sources say that the victim and and suspect did not know each other, and that the suspect might have a history of mental illness.
