Police say they are searching for the suspect, who is believed to be a woman wearing a black and blue sweatshirt and a black ski mask.
They say she shot the other woman several times in the leg and foot before 1 p.m. Thursday.
The incident happened in the middle of Prospect Avenue, according to police.
Police say the victim was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and is in stable condition at this time.
They have not released her age or identity at this time, but police say the woman is in her 20s.
Police say this is an ongoing investigation. They say it is unclear why the woman opened fire.
