Power is restored after residents in Co-op City experienced yet another power outage Monday night as winds began to gust across the borough.

News 12 meteorologist said Tuesday's weather frigid and windy weather could cause more power outages, but residents in Co-op City's Building 8 were hoping that wouldn't be the case after experiencing non-weather-related outages since Friday.

Tenants went through power outages again when a generator failed, but it was repaired by 11:30 p.m. Monday. The outage left a man stuck in elevator until the power was restored.

Back on Friday, police say a 73-year-old woman who was climbing 19 flights of stairs while carrying her oxygen tank died after running out of oxygen and falling down the stairs.

This all started on Friday morning after a transformer fire caused on and off power issues for residents, and then again on Sunday and again on Monday night.

While the recent power outages are not weather related, tenants fear the power problems during these chilling temperatures could add more to the extreme conditions they have been facing.

The Riverbay Corporation, which runs the buildings, told News 12 that the generator had to be replaced. As of right now, they do not have a timeline as to when the problem will be permanently fixed.

The NYPD and Co-op police are in place, and there is a generator that could serve as backup just in case the power goes out.
