Preparations underway for West Indian American Day Parade and J’ouvert festival

The West Indian American Day Parade and J’ouvert festival kicks off Monday, and NYPD officers are putting safety plans in place to protect parade-goers.

The West Indian American Day Parade and J’ouvert festival kicks off Monday, and NYPD officers are putting safety plans in place to protect parade-goers.
The NYPD will have detailed travel plans in place to ensure the safety of participants as they attend the events on Eastern Parkway. Barricades will be up to block off certain roads.
The J’ouvert festival will be the first event to kickoff at 6 a.m. at the Grand Army Plaza. The parade will start at 11 a.m. and will begin on Ralph Avenue and Eastern Parkway.
The NYPD also tweeted out travel plans and entry points for residents who are attending the festivities.
