President Joe Biden was in Hartford
Friday afternoon to promote his Build Back Better Agenda.
Air Force One landed at Bradley Air
National Guard Base in East Granby, Connecticut, just after 12:30 p.m. Biden
then went to the Capital Child Development Center in Hartford to highlight the
importance of investing in child care to keep costs down for working families.
He was joined by Gov. Ned Lamont
and Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy.
The White House says our country
invests far less than other countries in the next generation.
"The average two-parent family
with two young kids spends 26% of their income on child care every year. My
Build Back Better plan is going to change that, it's going to cut the cost of
child care for most Connecticut families by half. No middle-class family will
pay more than 7% of their income on child care and that's going to help parents
get back in the workforce," Biden says.
He also says most families pay
$16,000 a year on child care and that his child and dependent care tax credit will help families
cover the costs of child care expenses.
