Public picks Mirabel as name for Beardsley Zoo’s baby spider monkey
Zoo officials say Mirabel will soon be on display.

The votes are in, and Beardsley Zoo has named its baby black-handed spider monkey Mirabel.
Mirabel is the winning name after the zoo held a public naming contest for the infant monkey born in December. The zoo asked the community to choose between Mirabel, Esperanza or Reyna to honor the endangered species’ Central and South American heritage.
Zoo officials say Mirabel will soon be on display.
