Suffolk County police have released multiple videos that show dozens of people participating in an illegal street race on the service road in Yaphank over the weekend.

The video shows people positioning cars before they backfire, send smoke from their wheels and speed down Express Drive North off Exit 66 on Sunday at 1 a.m.

Suffolk County police said they responded to the area just west of Sills Road after they received a complaint about the large gathering.

The department's Street Takeover Task Force responded and said officers saw cars racing before people dispersed as police arrived.

Suffolk County police were able to pull over a truck towing a trailer that was carrying what they described as a race car and arrested four people.

Suffolk County police charged Christian Vargas Hernandez, 28, with reckless driving, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and unlawful speed contests, sideshows and races. They also charged John Maldonado, 33, Lawrence Torres, 30 and Efrain Rivera, 35, with unlawful speed contests, sideshows and races.

All four are from Meriden, Connecticut and were issued appearance tickets to be arraigned at a later date.

The truck, trailer and car were all impounded.
