Regional Aid for Interim Needs, or RAIN, delivered meals to the homeless on Thanksgiving Day.
The food truck that RAIN normally uses to deliver meals wouldn’t start on Thanksgiving morning, but that didn’t stop the warm meals from getting delivered to those in need.
RAIN used two smaller replacement trucks to give out a total of 500 meals. Each meal included a turkey dinner, some pie and household essentials like milk.
The group hit multiple places around the borough, including Seneca House, Christ Family Church and Rainey Park.
They even brought scarves to keep people warm.
The food drive was funded by the Bob and Delores Hope Foundation, which delivers Meals on Wheels daily. Volunteers say it’s especially important that everyone has a warm meal and a full stomach.
