A wave of proposed apartment buildings has residents of Windsor Terrace worried that their Brooklyn neighborhood could be seeing major changes.
Dozens of residents took to the streets Sunday, outraged over a developer's plans to build a 13-story luxury apartment building in place of the International Baptist church at 312 Coney Island Ave.
Some people who live in the area say they fear rent prices will go up, and middle-class families will be pushed out.
They add that the proposed building, which they say is not consistent with the shorter buildings in the neighborhood, will just add to the slew of problems already impacting the area.
The rally comes ahead of a vote in the zoning subcommittee of the City Council Monday, where residents are pushing Council member Brad Lander to vote 'no' in opposition to the proposed building. Lander says the decision is not that easy.
Demonstrators say they're not completely against the development, but they are just hoping to come to an agreement on a building fit for the neighborhood.
