Traffic and road construction are nothing new to New York City’s drivers, but one road closure in the Bronx is giving drivers a headache.
The entrance ramp that brings drivers going eastbound on Pelham Parkway to the northbound Bruckner Expressway is currently closed after construction started on the ramp two weeks ago. The state’s Department of Transportation says the closure is needed to help enhance safety and mobility on the Bruckner and Hutchinson River Parkway.
Many New Yorkers are wondering if the timing could have been better from the state, as drivers are voicing their frustrations about the closure.
“You learn to deal with it,” said Chris, a Bronx resident. “You got to kind of go up and around… I’ll try to go around the highway and then get back on but yeah, it’s kind of a pain.”
The state’s Department of Transportation says construction work should be finished in the area around June 29.
