The Child Development Center of MMCC (Mosholu Montefiore Community Center) has been named as a new grant recipient. Agnes Matibag, the assistant executive director of the center, says this grant is a dream come true.

"It basically provides us with more stability, sufficiency, for the entire community not only in the Bronx but now in Queens," said Matibag.

The funds come from the Federal Head Start Program.

The Child Development Center aims to provide services not only for children but also for their families.

"We are basically the bridge of the services that our families need and the children," said Matibag.

Services like general and special education for kids, employment help for parents, mental health services and more. The nonprofit picks families through what they call a selection criteria and try to aim for families who could benefit most from their services.

"A single parent, parents who are not working, parents who need to learn English, families who are in the poverty guidelines," said Matibag.
