Author and educator, Jennifer Cruzado, has spent the last two years pushing for a free little library to open at Pelham Bay Park.

The mother of two said the place holds sentimental value, as a place her family spends quality time in.

"This is where my girls have built their community with their friends, and this is where they spend so much of their time," said Cruzado.

The 36-year-old has shared updates on TikTok over the last few months, from battling city approvals, unboxing the shed, and painting it by hand.

The book shed will hold 75 books and will feature work from local storytellers.

"We got an overwhelming amount of donations, and a lot of local Bronx authors want to donate and sign their copies of their books," said Cruzado.

Park officials picked up the completed book shed in February, but Cruzado has yet to hear back on when it will be set-up.

"We have incredible stories and incredible people here. And we just need to highlight that a little bit more," said Cruzado.

A source at the Department of NYC Parks told News 12, the book shed will be installed in the coming days, depending on the weather.
