A relic showcasing the arm of St. Jude the Apostle was on display during Sunday Mass at Saints Simon and Jude Church in Gravesend.

Parishioners who lined up to witness the relic said it's a sacred symbol that makes them feel more connected to the Lord.

"It's so gratifying and heartwarming. It strengthens your faith," said Nick Compagnone.

For the past few weeks, the relic has toured different churches across the country. This was also the first time ever that it left Rome.

Many parishioners told News 12 it brings a spiritual connection to the community.

"Its a connection with the apostles. One of the 12 [who] was there at the Last Supper, who was there near the cross of Jesus, who was there walking in the steps of Jesus," said Bishop Robert Brennan.

Saint Jude is the patron saint of hope and impossible causes. Many Catholics pray to him and ask for strength when they face challenges.

After the service, people lined up to pray, take photos, and embrace its significance. Many churchgoers told News 12 how important it is for their faith.

"It means a lot to me. It means so important to me more than I can express it and I'm full of joy," said Ngozi Ohaeri.

"It's part of our religion, it's part of our faith and it means so much to have something like that here in the church," Compagnone said.

During Sunday's service, the relic became a symbol of guidance and reassurance that better days are ahead.

"To have a remembrance of somebody who was that close to the Lord means an awful lot to us," Brennan said.

The service gave people a chance to experience intimacy with someone they believe met Jesus face to face.

The arm was recently on display in Dobbs Ferry.

The relic is expected to make its way to Long Island on Nov. 27.
