In the meantime, the school's teams, including football, baseball, softball and track, have had to find public parks to practice in, and figure out game sites on a week-to-week basis.

After being fully closed for renovations in the spring of 2022, work is still being done on the field at Evander Childs High School.

People at the building said they originally expected the project to take one or two years, and had hoped it would be done last September.

When that was not done, they were told December, then this September, and none of those have happened.

In the meantime, the school's teams, including football, baseball, softball and track, have had to find public parks to practice in, and figure out game sites on a week-to-week basis.

The School Construction Authority, which is in charge of the project, tells News 12 that there were some delays because of issues with the soil, but that work is about 80% done, and they expect it actually be done this December.
