New York City has a lot fewer young people than it did before the pandemic, according to census numbers analyzed by data research company Social Explorer.
The report claims the city lost 186,000 people under the age of 20 last year compared to 2020.
There are 41,000 fewer younger people in the Bronx and 66,000 fewer in Brooklyn.
The report cites "a shortage of affordable housing, a shift to work-from-home policies, concerns about school quality and crime and a desire for more parks and open spaces" as possible reasons.
