People made their way to Coney Island as high temperatures and humidity are expected throughout Sunday.

Residents headed to the boardwalk early and picked their spots on the beach to cool off near the water.

The city offers 250 misting sites in parks, 300 hydrants open with spray caps and 650 spray showers that are available every day.

There are also 200 cooling centers and eight public pools open across the five boroughs.

At all of the locations, the city is requiring people to wear face masks and follow social distancing.

According to the National Weather Service, a heat advisory is set to go into effect from Sunday at noon through Monday night.

City officials are urging with pre-existing health conditions to stay in air-conditioned spaces.
