Trash inside Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx has some residents frustrated.
Workers were on site Monday cleaning piles of trash they say were left behind from people who had barbecues over the weekend.
Residents often use the parks for barbecues when the weather is nice, but those who live in the area say every Monday a giant mess is left behind.
The department says after 5 p.m., the park stops picking up garbage, and it is up to the occupants inside the park to properly dispose of their trash.
Officials say they do provide many garbage bins around the park, and even have bins where people can dispose of used coal from their cookouts.
However, residents say people continue to litter in the park.
A spokesman for the Parks Department says, "We encourage all New Yorkers to help us keep this and all parks beautiful by properly disposing of their trash."
