Dozens of Brooklyn residents took a bus to Albany today to demand rent regulations.

Current rent laws are set to expire in six days.

The group is trying to encourage state leaders to repeal vacancy decontrol, protect tenants with preferential rents, and reform Major Capital Improvement (MCI) rent increases.

The situation is dire for Eric Kelly, who is staying with a friend after being pushed out of his last home because of high rent.

"Instead of sitting here crying and sobbing about it, it's about getting involved and making things happen," he says. "I'm one of those people thatas a product of what's going on out here and making things happen."

The trip to the state Capitol also includes meetings with lawmakers and a rally.
