A four-alarm
fire broke out on the top floor of a five-story building in
Fordham.
The
fire initially broke out and started off as a two-alarm fire before
progressing into a four-alarm fire.
Residents
were evacuated from the building and are claiming they saw lightning
strike the building and cause the fire.
“Lightning
hit the top of the roof and caused the fire,” said one resident. “I ran to the
top ceiling floor, see what's going on and there was smoke coming from
the top ceiling... I knocked on the doors to get anybody out."
At this
hour, the FDNY says some firefighters did sustain injuries responding to
the fire, but the condition of those injured is not yet known.
