Residents in Pelham Parkway marched for changes in their neighborhood Thursday night.
Representatives from Community Board 11 organized the march that started from the corner of White Plains Road and Maran Place. They say the march is an effort to get the word out about what they call quality of life threats in their neighborhood.
The board says more police officers are needed in the 49th Precinct. It also wants more youth programs added for the community.
Residents and the community board hope the march also sends a message to potential criminals that the streets belong to good people, and crime won?t be tolerated.
Organizers of the march say they haven?t ruled out the possibility of marching at City Hall to try and get more attention for their requests.
