Retail experts predict number of Sears, Kmart stores will continue to decline

Could it be the last Black Friday for two of America's most famous retail brands?
When Sears and Kmart merged in 2005, there were 3,500 stores nationwide.
Now there are only 21 full-line Sears stores left in the mainland U.S. and just six Kmarts.
Retail experts predict those numbers will be down to zero soon, but the big-box retailers are not alone.
Lord & Taylor folded during the pandemic and JCPenny was forced into bankruptcy.
