A group of Riverdale parents say they need their school crossing guard back.
They say there used to be four crossing guards between 235th and 237th streets, but now there are only three. Parents say there is no guard on the north side of 236th Street to control school traffic in the morning after the guard was reassigned to a nearby school.
The NYPD says traffic enforcement has been taking place at the intersection, resulting in multiple summons. However, parents say they want a permanent crossing guard to return.
The Parents Association says it plans to reach out to the local police precinct and community leaders regarding the matter.
