Some Riverdale residents are concerned about vacant businesses in a popular shopping center.
Many community members have lived in the area for over 40 years and they say the Knotts Crescent Shopping Center is a staple of their community because it's a one-stop shop for them.
The shopping center has a grocery store, hair salons and a pharmacy.
The fear for many in the area is that increasing rents may be pushing some mom-and-pop businesses out, and they don't think the blue “for rent” signs on empty storefronts are attracting any new businesses.
News 12 reached out to the landlord, Friedland Properties, for a statement regarding the vacancies and for what their future plans are for the lot. News 12 is awaiting a response.
