A Riverdale woman is making sure people in her community and at her synagogue can get their COVID-19 vaccinations.
After snagging coveted vaccine appointments for her family, Emily Yolkut wanted to use her newly acquired skill of navigating the city and state vaccine sites to help the community.
"We tried to help bridge the expertise that we had with the need that our members had," she says.
Yolkut worked with her synagogue as well as the Riverdale community at large. She reached out on Facebook to offer services to those having trouble booking or finding a vaccine appointment.
She says she's got a number of tricks up her sleeve, like mastering the days and times new appointments pop up.
Yolkut helped one woman get both of her husband's parents appointments in one day after they struggled to get them for weeks. She says the key is knowing why people qualify, their schedule, and when sites open, as well as being a quick clicker.
Yolkut says she will continue helping people book appointments as long as they need. She hopes in the next few weeks availability opens and booking appointments becomes easier.
