Ever wondered what your favorite Yankees and Mets players looked like as kids?
A new interactive exhibit at The Bronx Children’s Museum, through a partnership with the Players Alliance, aims to remind New Yorkers of all ages that you’re never too young - or too old - to chase your dreams.
Inspired by Jackie Robinson, the first Black American to play in the Major Leagues for the then-Brooklyn Dodgers, this exhibit combines digital media with traditional spray-paint art.
When you enter the museum, one wall features digital re-creations of Yankees and Mets players as kids!
It was created by Berka Ngong, the New Media and Digital Arts director of the museum, using regression technology, photo blending and face swapping.
Legends include Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson, Darryl Strawberry, Giancarlo Stanton, Mookie Wilson, Aaron Judge and more!
On the opposite wall, you’ll see a mural depicting young baseball fans, who could be any kids in our borough.
It was created by André Trenier, a Bronx artist whose work can be seen outside the museum as well.
Trenier says growing up, he never knew a career as an artist was possible.
Trenier's mural includes the painted in the face of his little cousin. He hopes kids like him know they too can become artists.
The idea is to show kids - and adults too - who you can become.
The exhibit is now a permanent fixture in the museum.
