Major changes are coming to Tremont Avenue to increase safety for those traveling down the busy thoroughfare.

The New York City Department of Transportation's changes include reducing speed down the roadway and improving bike lanes.

Other changes include far-side bus stops to eliminate congestion, more lighting, shortened crossing distances to help pedestrians, more crosswalks, curb extensions to reduce speeding and new markings on lanes to help with traffic flow.
