Now, the question I have about the mayor is that the weather down in DC, a warmer than the weather here because it's got to be at least a little bit better. It is a little bit warmer in DC. But you know, we are dealing with that really cold pocket of air that is taking us just for one more day. But we are going to turn our eyes for the weekend an early look for what are some potential impacts for this storm. So some thunderstorms in December, that's what is possible for Sunday evening into Monday, steady rain isolated flooding high winds of 40 MPH or even stronger that can knock down some decorations even cause some scattered power outages and then temperatures start to crash. So we're forecasting a high of 61 on Sunday by Monday night. It's going to be in the 30. So that's something that we need to monitor in terms of tomorrow. Another very cold start, temperatures will be near 29 feeling much colder than that high. Tomorrow will be in the low forties, feeling like the mid thirties throughout the day. A few flurries possible by the early afternoon drying out and clouds clearing out by Friday. Seeing more of that sunshine seasonable fill with highs in the upper forties. Saturday will actually be the pick of the week. We're going to see that beautiful sunshine highs in the mid fifties and then we're watching for some stormy weather on Sunday.

Scholar Athlete: Alexis Ortiz 

Well after coming to school in throgs neck before her sophomore year and after a worldwide pandemic kept students home the year before this week, scholar athlete had a difficult task in readjusting. But with graduation ahead in the spring, Alexis Ortiz showed that she was willing to put in the work to set herself apart. News twelve's Dan Serafin has Ortiz's story presented by East Chester Chrysler. Jeep Dodge Ram, the captain of Monsignor Scan's volleyball team. Alexis Ortiz admits it wasn't easy to pick up a sport that was relatively new to her sophomore year. I couldn't really, I couldn't hit, I couldn't really do anything, sir. One of many things that made the pandemic and more specifically returning from the pandemic difficult coming from COVID being online for a full year and then coming into a new school being the new kid, it was definitely harder to pick my grades up and still balance sports, coming into sports and still balance the social life. It was harder. But Ortiz navigated those hardships winning the school's sports academic award last year. We worked a lot. So I get where I am right now. The wi is Alexis and her parents, her dad, Israel has coached her throughout her softball career. It was definitely a struggle. You know, your parents are always harder on you than other kids. So it's kind of just like balancing the parent relationship and a coach relationship. Alexis is all a captain of Scanlon's softball team. It's the sport she says she's hoping to play in college. My interests right now are criminal justice and psychology. So I've definitely been looking into colleges around here that have this. Alexis says both in sports and in the classroom. She's pushed by competitiveness. Judging from the leadership role she fills on both the volleyball court and the softball field. She's also displaying how to succeed. I'm Dan Sara in News 12.
