Police Officer Robert Holmes was released from the hospital Friday, two days after being shot during a gun battle with a suspect in the Bronx.
Officers applauded Holmes as he exited St. Barnabas Hospital. His partner, Officer Alejandra Jacobs, was released from the same hospital on Thursday morning.
The two responded Wednesday night to a 911 call about a man with a gun on Beaumont Avenue.
During a struggle with the man, police say that he pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting both officers.
The NYPD says Jacobs returned fire, striking the suspect three times. Charges are still pending against that shooter.
