Hundreds of firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in Mott Haven early this morning,
News 12 is told several people were sent to the hospital, with one patient said to be in critical condition.
The fire started on the first floor of the multi-unit complex on East 140th Street near Cypress Avenue around 12:40 a.m.
More than 100 firefighters were on scene, working to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the building.
It took crews about an hour to completely put the fire out. News 12 is told flames took over two apartments on the first floor.
Fire crews have evacuated the area, and fire marshals remain on scene investigating what caused the blaze.
One person was sent to the hospital in critical condition. Four other civilians and three firefighters suffered minor injuries.
