Shots fired as kids run for cover during Bridgeport Little League game
Shots were fired during a Bridgeport Little League game, and now the public is demanding local leaders and politicians do something about it.
The incident happened Saturday at Newfield Park during an East End Little League game.
Gov. Ned Lamont, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, and Mayor Joe Ganim joined residents Sunday to discuss what happened.
Police say players and other young children went running for cover as bullets flew over their heads.
"Just kids playing ball! Kids playing ball! Having fun, getting back to normal, living life like kids deserve to -- and then those shots firing out. You know what a cloud that casts. No more," Lamont says.
A boy who was playing for one of the teams during the shooting says he hopes every other kid that was there and every other kid in the world that must deal with this knows what they must do also.
Activist Joe Grits says it's time to demand action from police and politicians.
Police say they're pouring over surveillance video to figure out who fired those shots.
