The Fourth of July marks a day of celebration for most people, but for one family, it is a somber anniversary of the day they lost a loved one.
Delrawn Small was killed by off-duty officer Wayne Isaacs early in the morning on July 4, 2016 following an apparent road rage incident. A year later, the officer was acquitted on murder and manslaughter charges.
Victoria Davis, Small's sister, has become an outspoken activist against police brutality since his death.
"I've given up on the justice from the court," says Davis. "However, I have not given up on accountability."
Davis has called on the mayor and police commissioner to fire the man she says killed her brother.
"It is scary and it's disgusting that New Yorkers would have to deal with an officer receiving their taxpayers money, patrolling their neighborhoods," says Davis.
The NYPD did not respond to News 12's inquiries on Isaac's current role with the department.
Small's family plans to honor him with a candlelight vigil Saturday.
