One tenant of the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview says she has been asking the New York City Housing Authority to do something about discolored water from her apartment's faucets to no avail.
Kim Abrams has lived in her apartment for 20 years. She says that the water from her shower faucet has come out brown every morning for the last three years.
Abrams says she's worried the water is contaminated. She says she boils her water before she drinks or cooks with it and uses gloves to handle the faucet.
She says she's been going to court against NYCHA, but claims that each time someone comes to inspect the problem, she never sees them again.
A spokesperson for NYCHA says the housing authority sent employees to check out the problem Monday, but Abrams did not cooperate.
"Staff have tried to assess the possible issues in this apartment multiple times today, but have been denied access by Ms. Abrams," the spokesperson said.
NYCHA says there are no work orders for Abrams' apartment related to brown water and no other complaints about the problem in her building.
Abrams says her next court date is March 16.
