5h agoThe St. Joseph's School for the Deaf hosted its 8th Annual Spirit Parade Friday morning in Throgs Neck.
The students made their way through the streets, lining them with purple and gold. Older students later went around the neighborhood to thank the businesses that have been supportive to them over the years.
St. Joseph's is one of the three 4201 schools in the Bronx funded by the state with advocacy from Council Member Marjorie Valazquez and other elected officials.
"So, folks that are listening, please feel free to support St. Joseph's since they're a huge asset to our community. We want to keep them here and make sure the children feel loved. At the end of the day, it's about raising awareness," says Valazquez.
Students also made a stop at the 45th Precinct to thank the officers for watching their backs along the way.
