Stamford fire officials say firefighters rescued two people from a submerged truck in the water off Cummings Park during the peak of Monday's nor'easter.
The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. Fire officials say a pickup was floating 40 feet offshore, with a female standing in the rear cargo area and a man trapped in the truck's cab.
Three firefighters in cold water rescue suits swam to the truck and a ladder truck was used to stretch out the pickup, they say.
The female was assisted onto the ladder and the male was rescued through a window as the pickup became totally submerged under water, officials say.
The male was taken to Stamford Hospital. The female refused medical attention.
Stamford police are investigating what led to the situation.
