It’s been one year since congestion pricing hit New York City. State leaders are calling the first year a major success.

Gov. Kathy Hochul says traffic is down and transit ridership is up.

State leaders say traffic is down 11%, an estimated 27 million fewer cars have entered the congestion zone and air pollution has dropped by more than 20%.

Advocates and elected officials gathered to mark the milestone calling it a victory after years of debate, criticism and more than 10 lawsuits.

State leaders say 100% of the revenue is going directly to the MTA funding $15 billion in capital projects.

Under federal law, prices are set to increase in 2028 and again in 2031.
