As the school year gets closer, parents say there are many questions that have still been left unanswered.
A town hall was held Monday night and according to conversations that Brooklyn Councilman Carlos Menchaca has had with educators, it’s too soon to go back.
"Principals and teachers all saying the same thing, that the mayor is just failing to really understand that schools are not ready for opening up,” said Menchaca.
This is why, he says, he held a town hall Monday night--to give parents answers.
"I always want to bring the people most impacted to the front of an issue and allowing them to really guide the discussion,” said Menchaca.
Brooklyn Community Board 7 co-sponsored the virtual meeting with Department of Education representatives present.
A big question that parents had was how will online learning be improved?
"Nearly all schools in Brooklyn North will continue using the Google classroom elements which has freed them up to really focus on planning for dynamic, engaging instruction for the fall,” said executive superintendent from Brooklyn North Karen Watts.
Remote instruction will also be live, which can happen with the whole class, smaller groups or individuals.
