WHAT TO KNOW:
- Mild today with highs near 60, but windy this afternoon
- Big drop in temperatures this evening
- Sunday feels like 10s and 20s
- Watching rain on Wednesday
Welcome to March! It's the first month of spring and one of our most chaotic for temperature changes and the first change comes this weekend.
Today is cloudy to start with a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon along with strong wind. Winds will be sustained at 20 to 30 mph. Although temperatures will soar into the upper 50s early in the afternoon. Then it'll feel cooler with the strong wind.
Temperatures rapidly drop starting around dinnertime and it will be cold overnight. Temperatures are below freezing by midnight and near 20 on Sunday morning.
Sunday is windy and sunny. High temperatures will only rise into the low 30s, and it will feel like the teens and 20s for most of the day with winds sustained at 20 mph from the northwest.
Temperatures remain cold on Monday. It will be in the 20s in the morning with highs only in the mid to upper 30s. We expect winds to be light with ample sunshine.
The middle of the week looks mild with highs in or near 50 Tuesday through at least next Friday.
The next storm
A storm will push through the area on Wednesday bringing a chance for heavy rain and gusty wind. The timing for the worst weather appears to be the afternoon, but rain is expected in the morning as well. The storm will clear out during the morning on Thursday and the work week looks dry otherwise.
We're also tracking a potential storm for the end of next weekend. It's too far out to know what, if any impact the storm will have on our area. Remember that the weather rapidly changes this time of the year, so computer model guidance becomes very unreliable (and is often wrong) more than a few days out.
Daylight saving time is next weekend! Push your clocks forward an hour. Although we'll lose an hour of our weekend, the sunset will be nearly 7 p.m. by next Sunday.
