A storm just reached G4 status, and it could be the strongest flare since October when the Northern Lights were seen in-person for the first and only time in New York City records.
The cold Canadian wind will finally start to slowly subside overnight and into Thursday. It will get cold, wind or not, with low temperatures dipping down to near-40 degrees. With the wind, it will feel like middle 30s.
Winter jackets get replaced with spring sweaters by Thursday afternoon as temperatures climb into the lower 60s, closer to average this time of year. Do not be outside longer than an hour in direct sunlight without sunscreen or else a sunburn is likely.
The slow warmup accelerates into the weekend. Middle 60s with a light south wind expected Friday, and lower 80s away from the water is likely Saturday. It will be a true taste of early summer. A cold front is now expected to just drop temperatures but not bring showers Saturday night.
It will still be above average in the middle-to-upper 60s on Sunday, but not as warm as Saturday. Expect these warmer temperatures to finally stick around for good as next week expect plenty of 60s and lower 70s as the current forecast stands.
