Winds linger across Long Island as warmer temperatures move in

As temperatures rise, winds will remain strong Friday on Long Island. Saturday could be feeling even warmer despite some showers in sight.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Going through the overnight hours, the winds will back down as the skies stay clear. Temperatures will cool down in many spots but will trend colder across eastern Suffolk County. There is a frost advisory in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. for places like Montauk, Riverhead and the Pine Barrens. If you can, bring potted plants inside, as well as your pets that like to stay outdoors all the time.

Temperatures will bounce back from a cool to cold start through Friday. The bad news is that breezy to windy conditions will return. The upcoming winds will be out of the southwest, allowing the air to feel a little bit milder.

Some spots will get into the 70s on Saturday. There will be a mix of sun and clouds, with breezy winds at times, but also a chance for a passing shower late in the day.

Easter Sunday looks good. Temperatures get into the low 60s. They will be slightly above normal levels.

Heading into next week, a chance for showers arrives overnight Monday into Tuesday. But the rain will fade after the first half of Earth Day on Tuesday.

SATURDAY: Mix of sun and clouds, with breezy winds at times. There is a chance for a passing shower during the second half of the day. Highs: Upper 60s to low 70s. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.
