Wintery and rainy weather are slowly pulling away from New Jersey and the tri-state area. The winds have changed direction and will start to draw in colder conditions tonight.
This blast of cold Canadian air will do it's best to dry up the roads, however any standing water will freeze over overnight into Wednesday morning. Please be extra careful about icy patches on sidewalks, secondary roads, driveways and parking lots.
Cold is now the weather story this week into next. Arctic air from the north pole is sinking southward.
Temperatures will plummet well below their seasonable averages. Morning low temperatures will resemble early January, and daily highs are stuck in the upper 30s.
I don't think we will have any cold records to report, but that winter chill is making itself known.
Aside from today's storminess, looking out on the meteorological horizon I don't see any big storms to track.
Maybe some sprinkles or flurries Friday night, then Monday a quick moving "clipper" system might bring some light snow to northwestern New Jersy. Accumulations will be very light if any at all.
