Temperatures reached beyond the freezing mark today for the first time in nine days. While this wasn't a record-smashing stretch of punishing cold (far from it), the length of the bitterness is unusual. With favorable winds and sunshine on tap for tomorrow, it's likely we could see afternoon highs flirt with near 40 degrees on Tuesday.
So, while you are all focusing on the brief thaw, Mother Nature has a few opportunities for snow this week. Let me stress that the snow threat is just a meteorological sleight of hand. Flurries will fly late tomorrow afternoon/evening. Nothing substantial is expected, but with a wave of the weather hand and voila, another stretch of uncomfortably cold air moves back in.
We have at least another five or six days where the temperatures, once again, do not get above 32 degrees for the daily high. Don't shoot the messenger. Spring is 46 days away. March 20 at 10:46 a.m.
The next round of light snow comes ahead of a very gusty weekend. Snow showers pass through on Friday night with light accumulations possible. Although this system is a clipper that does not have a lot of moisture with it, the amount of snow possible will be limited. Winds pick up afterward and last through the weekend with another cold blast - temperatures in the 20s. Windchills are possibly sub-zero to minus 15 degrees in some areas.
