Newly released surveillance video could lead police to the killer of the Bronx mom who was shot to death through the peephole at her home.
Police are continuing their search for the person who shot 45-year-old Wendy Martinez to death last weekend.
Officers released the video of a man walking up to Martinez's apartment door twice holding a dark umbrella. He is then seen running away from the apartment.
He is described as in his 20s and was last seen wearing a dark hooded jacket and a dark baseball cap.
The mother of two was found dead with a gunshot wound to her face inside her apartment on Nov. 24. Police say she was shot through the peephole of her door as she went to answer a knock.
Meanwhile, a private investigator close to the family tells News 12 he has found witnesses in the case.
Martinez hired private investigator Manuel Gomez after her son, Brian Solano, was charged with second-degree murder in 2014. Gomez says Solano was released from jail based on evidence he found. Solano has been awaiting his murder trial.
Gomez is now helping the family again with this case and says he has passed his information on to police.
Martinez’s family is now trying to raise money to lay her to rest in the Dominican Republic.
As the investigation continues, a $2,500 reward is being offered for any information related to Martinez's death.
